6 Month buck fawns breeding

Recommended Posts

Well, I know there has been a lot of debate whether 6 month old buck fawns breed or not, but I saw concrete proof that they do (or maybe just some do) today. I was driving to work on a country road today and saw a doe jump out of the woods and stop on the roadside, then a nubbin 6 month old followed right behind her and started to mount her right on the roadside! I stopped my truck and pulled over and watched this nubbin buck mount her for a good 10 seconds and then she shrugged him off and ran across the road and disappeared back into the woods. He followed after her with his nose to the ground. It was so hilarious watching this 90 pound 6 month old buck mount this pretty good sized doe (she was probably around 140 or 150 pounds). I have never seen a buck actually breed a doe like that, I have seen them try to mount, but the does have always ran away before they could actually get on top. Anyone else seen this before?!

Maybe that is the reason all the deer in my area are so small. Just kidding!! I see puppys doing the same thing. I believe they all have the instinct and maybe like the feeling. Heck i have a female dog and she is mounting my kids, my old golden retriever male. It all natural for animals to do this. Heck they have to learn by practice right.
