bigbucks
I've found fawns very seldom respond to calling. One thing I just decided & tested last week, which seemed to bear out. If you have a smaller lone antlerless deer & you want to know if it's a big fawn or a yearling try the can. Chances are a yearling will respond where as a fawn will ignore it. I would have shot a yearling last Thursday, but I thought it was a fawn. I couldn't see it's legs as it was partly obscured by a little hump. When I called & it couldn't find the deer it got nervous & started walking away, but where I could see it better. I decided it was a yearling, not a fawn. Had I not shot a deer yet this year at the time it would have got shot, as soon as I realized it probably wasn't a fawn. I waited a little longer & didn't wind up having a decent shot by then.
