First Blood or Kill shot

Your deer, IMO, bassboy. Gut shots can be fatal pretty quickly or they can go for a long, long ways. Just depends on what is hit and what is missed internally.

You put the kill shot on a deer that might have dropped 20 feet farther on or run for a mile.

But maybe the guy looked at his own shot through the gut and said you could have it because he didn't want to deal with the gut aftermath.

Per an earlier post I made, the neighbor's dog got to a doe I arrowed this year in between the two hours I backed out to make sure she was dead and not simply bedded in a slough and I came back. Turns out it was a perfect heart shot and I should have only waited 15 minutes or so but the dog made his claim, ripping into her side with the guts laying out. Who gets the deer me or him? Or should I take the deer and give him the guts?
