Winter is coming (the birds say so)

Well, I caught this snow bunting perched on the canoe rack of a car near the Secret/Blackstone/Ennis trailhead a week ago. The buntings have been here for a few weeks, one of the first migrants that winter here and arrive from the sub-Arctic regions in autumn.

I saw my first Bohemian waxwings of the season yesterday, another marker of the coming winter, and this morning there were pine grosbeaks on the feeder, and they only show up when it starts getting c-c-cold. grin.gif
