Newbie question... I just bought a new (to me) Class C motorhome.

How do I know how much propane I have? I don't have a gauge that I know of. Can I add a gauge somewhere?

I think I'm out now...when I get it filled do I pay by the pound?

you'll pay a flat rate for your tank. you should have 2 tanks. on my camper, there is a regulator at the top of the 2 tanks. there should be a slide. when the slide is to the left, it will pull from the left tank first, then when that's empty, start drawing from the right. there will be a small window somewhere that will show red when tank #1 empty. when you show red, slide it to the other side, and fill the first tank and put it back on, then when you show red again, do the same for the other side. i've had my camper for 5 years, and have only replaced one tank.

Depends on the age of the machine. My friends family have a 70's motorhome that only has one tank. On the actual tank there is a gauge on theirs. I'm not sure where you would start looking, but maybe if you said what year and model it is someone here might have experience with it.

You pay a flat fee, per pound to have it filled.

Thanks guys...like I said...newbie question. I found the gauge on the same panel that has my tank levels. blush.gif I was looking for a gauge on the tank itself (there is just one tank).

Turns out my tank is full, so I have a furnace that does not always fire up. The seller did tell me it needed something like an igniter, so I knew this going into it.

It's an '87 Coachman on a Ford chassis. I've got some time to look into it this winter. If I can't figure it out, I'll post something here.

Could it be the thermocouple and not the igniter? The fan kicks in, and I usually get heat...but not always.

On this vintage of furnace there is something called a "sail switch". It is a mechanical switch that is supposed to trigger when the fan is blowing. The pivots will corrode over time and the "sail" will not catch enough air to overcome the corrosion. A little JB80 or some WD40 will usually free it up enough to allow the switch to trip.
