Another question about rivets............YAY!

when installing new rivets do you hit the outside of the rivet(rounded head portion) and block the inside of the boat? or do you block the rounded end and hit the flat surface. (I know, it's pretty obvious i know what i am doing huh)

Also the rivets i have seem to be real long, maybe a 1/4 inch should i be using shorter ones or are these the right length. (I am just going thru the hull)

Rivet gun goes on the head of the rivet and the bucking bar(or block as you called it)goes on the flat or straight side of the rivet.c63hope this helps..........

i don't have a rivet gun, can i use a ball-pean hammer instead, or is a air hammer an acceptable alternative?

An air hammer with the correct bit to fit the round head is what is used!

And about 3/8 in longer or so is what is need to get the correct sealing effect.

You can use the peen side of the hammer. That's what it was made for.
