Where can a guy get spearfishing equipment?

Recommended Posts

As promised, here is an update on my trip to Fort Peck.

All I can say is WOW! shocked.gif Certainly not what I had pictured at all. Very remote and isolated. Very quiet - at one time, my ears were ringing from the silence. smirk.gif

However, I have never had more fun fishing! grin.gifgrin.gif Well, that might be a stretch, but it was certainly worth the trip, even though we drove through 300 miles of blizzard to get there.

This first one is my first 10 lb Laker! Pretty sweet. Had her smoked - yum!

Bob scored a nice 9 lb Walleye!

100_0221.jpg

Jason did the best - the pike is just shy of 19 lbs, laker is 9 1/2.

100_0223.jpg

Me setting a tip-up - nice scenery. Notice the first day was cold and windy, the last two were beautiful!

Jason with some more fish on the last day!

100_1698.jpg

Of course no trip would be complete without some of these!

100_0212.jpg

Total tally for 4 guys was 22 pike, 5 lakers, 3 walleyes and a chinook salmon.

Yea MN MIKE I’ve been very busy so I don’t get on here very often. Bean harvest went good but I must be getting older being I get a little tired after 29 to 30 hrs straight frown.gif. Thought we were done in the field a few weeks ago when I finished anhydrous at 1:30 AM in the rain and we got 2” of rain. A week later we were rolling again. Spent a week ditching and decided I better get some more Icesaws made and parked the tractor so I’ve been in the shop lately. Been shipping Icesaws all over the country grin.gif. Still have some more ditching to do and go and level off the scraper piles. What’s this about your dad’s big deer?

A couple of maintenance tips for the Icesaw. Tighten the two bolts in the wood handle & tighten the rivet in the hinge point. Make sure your spears are sharp. Still waiting on my last order of spear heads being I’m out of them.

Oh and another thing the wife figures when I’m in the shop I should be home by 7:00 or 8:00 PM instead of working till who knows when so I can’t get as many Icesaws done per day.

Hope the garden dries a little more so I can get it in shape for next spring. Know anybody that needs squash? Have a big pile in the garage.

Be safe on the ice. smile.gif You can purchase your Icesaw here at www.icesaws.com

FISH !!!!

We'll it's about time you get yourself out of that big fancy John Deere I imagine you have auto steer in that bugger, probably catching a few winks in between turns smile.gif

Boy, did Dad and Dan come back with a couple dandy Mulies both will probably make Boone and Crocket, we will find out, I'll see if I can post up some pics, I'm green with envy for sure! Breaking that 30 inch barrier put you into a whole different type of animal, it's like catching a 30 inch pike, then catching a 45 inch pike, they just are not the same.

You know, with the advent of youtube and what not, it might be time to put that video up on the internet of your ice saw or maybe even make a new one, we'll have to talk about that one day.

I think everyone has squash coming out of their ears this year, can't even hardly give it away anymore BUT if you run out, come on over to the shop grin.gif we got more for you.

No auto steer but it would be nice on a couple of fields! One field is over two miles long and the other is about mile. Sure get a lot done on them in a hurry. Dang the way the weather has been I bet the big eyes are hitting on union. grin.gif

Great pictures of the trip to fort peck. Talked to mark at D&G Sports in Glasgow <19 miles from Ft Peck> last week and he said they haven’t had weather like their having since 1963. The ice will come and you have to be patient to make sure it’s safe. I’m sure I won’t have time again to get out seeing what I’m missing. frown.gif Sure ruins my nick name "FISH" by not doing the fishing like I used to.

Heck of a good forum they started here.

Some rough fish are excellent smoked or pickled wink.gif

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
