I think part of the reason that it was boring is due to the "Chase" format. There are 12 drivers that have a lot to lose and they were very conservative until the very end of the race. Many people blame the COT, but if you watched the end of the race there was A LOT of shuffling, drafting, and passing going on. These cars at the end seamed very racy, so that was a good thing. Also, it really wasn't that different than any other Talladega race as most of the races don't really get interesting until the end anyway.

I will say it was good to see the two-four car with his "lucky" win. That was one helluva move on that last lap.
