lookincalifornia
when you have a $300 reel and a $250 rod, you can't throw some cheap lure. lure prices are getting crazy along with everything else. my step daughters have a pair of $160 jeans. are they that much better than a $30 pair of levis? i'm only 32 and i am already pineing for the good ole' days
Ray Esboldt
I have used the Lucky Craft jerkbaits. They're heavy, so you can throw than into a stiff wind, they have a neat action - almost like they're going to roll over but they snap back upright, and they seem to run true. With that being said, I think an X-Rap for half the price accomplishes the job equally as well.BTW - Pike love Lucky Crafts. Heck, Pike love everything. MNBassGuy
I'm a big believe in some Lucky Craft lures. My favorites are the Rick Clunn series (RC 1.5, RC 2.5, etc) that you can get from Bass Pro Shops. Thay also happen to be the cheapest ones you can buy (usually they put them on sale for around $10 each)! I have tested out those cranks versus similar colors in other brands and have done MUCH better with the LC's. Something about the vibration on those Clunn's that drive shallow-mid depth fish nuts! That said, I think LC makes some dump lures as well. Their version of a rattle trap is really bad. The lure hardly vibrates at all.Like Ray points out though...the tough part is losing a $15-$25 lure to a pike. I have lost three of my Clunn's to pike and musky this year. river rat316
There usually heavy for there size making em easy to cast with a baitcaster, the pointer series imho is hands down the best jerkbait you'll ever use. and the rc series is probably the best shallow square billed crank ever made. The finish is superb plus they dont fall apart like everything Rapala/normark has ever made, I still have never caught a decent fish on a x rap (unless you count eyes ) and all but 1 of the 5 I have bought have broken where the bill meets the head! slipperybob
It's not always in just lure action, but being able to cast a lure that casts out well. Look at how it flies through the air. Some lure's just spin and tumble. Other's seem to glide through the air like they're meant to be. The true benefit is, when you need to make an accurate cast or against a cross wind or up wind. SluggoMaster
The sammy only works good for me where there is shad present. That thing works exactly like a big old shad flopping around. I have had limited success here in MN with it. Great bait though.
