Canoe outriggers

Anyone ever make them? If not, anyone got ideas? I'm heading to an Electric only Tiger Musky lake in Missouri (stop giggling) next fall. I've got a trolling motor arm, but want some stability.

If you're going to Pony Express it's a no wake lake but Buffalo Bill is an electric only. Pony is supposed to have muskie but not supposed to be in Buffalo.

I went to WalMart and bought the bigger kids swim noodles (foam). They are about 5" in Diameter. Had a friend that does aluminum welding and inserted the 1" tubes and bent the poles into a ski shape at each end. Then I made a frame that goes across the canoe out of two square tubes and made a reciever at each end. Then you can put the noodles on each side. The noodles are approximately 5' long. We cut them in half and then welded a square tube vertically in the middle of the tube that is inside of the noodle. I can adjust each tube up and down (vertically) buy using pins. That way if you have heavier people in the canoe you can adjust them up an inch or two to compensate for the weight. Man this is hard to explain! Anyways it really works great. I can stand in the canoe and shift my weight side to side without worrying about tipping.

I did something similar to Bruce. Can't remember if I posted these a couple years ago or not...

Being I primarily use my canoe for duck hunting in cold water conditions, I figured some home-job outriggers wouldn't be too bad of an idea. Here's what I came up with, though I'd probably do some things differently next time. Probably have $50 into it total.

I mounted brackets on my cross members with some pins that drop in to secure the pipe:

And made it so I could slide the floats in and out:

I drilled homes in my PVC T-connectors which I use to raise/lower my floats:

My tubes - 6" PVC with Great Stuff foam (one thing I would do differently):
