svttom01
I have a general question on using lead shot. I know it's a no-no to use for hunting any waterfowl or hunting on a WPA, but could I use it on a WMA or private land if I am hunting for pheasant? I bought a three boxes of Fiocchi Golden Pheasant shells for when I hunt at preserves, but I haven't gone to a preserve in almost two years and would like to use the shells up. Any clarifications on this rule/law would be helpful. Thanks for any help.
xedge2002
WMA I don't think you can use it. Private land you can use it.
2 DA GILLS
I know that WPA's are NO on lead for sure, but I have never really clarified it for WMA's. I usually just stick to steel when I am on public ground so I do not have to worry about it. I am thinking that WMA's are different from WPA's on steel requirements, but I am sure that someone else will chime in with facts about WMA's. svttom01
Thanks for the input! I have always used steel all around, but I am sick of having a bunch of boxes of lead laying around.

kobear
Lead is okay on WMA's. No lead on WPA's, National Wildlife Refuges, or DOVE FIELDS ON WMA"S. Certain WMA's may have specific restrictions according to reg's.
2 DA GILLS
And now I remember why I just shoot steel shot on public ground.

Bigfife
I love the copper plate lead myself. I have two vests set up for WPAs and WMAs. That list of "special" WMAs is very small. To each there own. Good luck this fall.
2 DA GILLS
I also love the copper plated lead with 1500 fps muzzle velocity, but I just shoot it on private ground. It does get a bit tricky when hunting in October and you never know when you may stumble across some ducks. I hate when shooting lead shot and a group 20 mallards jumps up 15 yards from you.
