MNpurple
What are the best resources for public land maps and locations that you use?? I'm aware of the gazateers, the PRIM maps and the DNR Wildlife Lands brochures but what other resources are out there? For example I know phesants forever owns land but I have never seen it marked on a map anywhere, or must you be a member to see these lands? How about national wildlife refuge maps, where are these accesible? What are valuable resources do you use for finding public land and determining its boundries it it is unmarked?? For those of you willing to disclose?
TrophyEyes
On my Lorance iFinder Pro I have the Public areas mapped on my gps. It was a feature I selected when I downloaded the mapping options. That way I know when I am still on Public land and when I am getting close to private land. It works like a charm. It has prove to be very accurate over the last two years. I also like being able to overlay the topographical information so I know exactly where I want to be, even if I haven't been to the spot before. This can be useful if you have to move because of other hunters, or other reasons.
thistlekicker
a recent county plat book is probably the best betfrom my experience the PRIM maps are ok but miss a lot of smaller parcels of private land, which can be important when it comes to access.
