KOTC 2007 Home Stretch!!!!!

Hey all you cat fisherman!

As we round third and head into the home stretch on KOTC 2007, I figure I would shout out a post!

Anyone got any plans for the last full week of KOTC to get out and fish for an upgrade?

I am going to Croix again on Sat. night and hoping for an upgrade to channel or flat. I also have found a new love, sturgeon! They are easy to catch when you are in the right spot. Easier than cat fish.

As this forum of FM starts to head in to the winter hibernation mode, I figure we only have a hand full of good fishing posts left until next spring.

I would personally like to thank everyone for all the info you guys have provided over the last 5-6 months. I am walking away from this cat season a totally different cat fisherman than any other year.

Though, I have not gotten a monster yet, I feel I have caught the monster of a life time! Knowledge! This goes way beyond a 40lber experience would be , well maybe not that far, but it is good!

Thanks to DTRO for all his help and preparation with the KOTC 2007. I hope it is as great in 2008.

Thanks to all who help put on the KOTC get together. That was a blast and one of my high lights from this summer. You guys rock and partied hard! Can not wait for another one next year.

Again, thanks ya’all and good luck to anyone who is getting out and fishing the home stretch!

Tyler and I will be out pounding it hard on Tuesday night into wednesday morning. We will be out on the miss, I think we will probably hit the same spot that Rugbyguy pulled out his 30lb fish, we have also caught a 20lber and I have had on two bigguns as well at this spot, so hopefully this will be the ticket, we would both like to get into something as I don't have a flat, and tyler has a small one.

A big thanks from me too, out to dtro and everyone else for sharing all kinds of information about how and what to do with these cats. I had never even given them a thought, but now I think that it is my favorite type of fishing, I am looking forward to next year's KOTC and I will be making darn sure I sign up right away and don't wait till this late in the program. Again thanks!

Going twice this week (once for flatheads) and possibly this weekend. I can't even count how many upgrades others (not in KOTC) have put in my boat. It's got to be my turn soon! Been close a few times, but… Come on Cat Scratchers!

Yes, well put Slash. I too have found a new passion and I owe most all the credit to this forum. I remember 3 years ago Dan T took me on my first channel cat outing. Last year I made it out 2-3 times up to the cities to try my hand at Flatheading. Until this year I had only caught 1 dink channel in all my attempts at actually fishing for catfish.

Things took a 180 degree turn when hanson invited me to fish with him on the MN river this spring. I wrangled in my first flathead and have been hooked ever since (just as hanson said I would be). This past summer we’ve put about 10 flatheads in the boat (which is pretty decent as I can only get out about 1-2 times a month). Many channels have blessed us as well.

The KOTC deal really gives me that extra push I’ve needed to get out and chase these elusive catfish. That little push is all it took to find a new passion. Monster thanks to Dtro for all your work in setting this up.

I’ve learned a ton by reading stories/reports/tips from others on this forum and for that I say Thank You ALL!

Well, we got out on Croix last Sat. night and it was a nice night. We kind of had a big hurtle against us, Bait!

We had a hard time up here and in east MN finding any suckers of any size. Very slim pickings! Also we did not get down to catch any bullies. We went anyways and had a good time. Caught my PB sturgy to date (will post pic later). Nothing big, but it put up a great fight. We caught almost 20 sturgies, but all were little dinks. Man is the Croix full of those buggers. I can have better luck catching sturgies than I could going for carp on the Miss... One channel close to 10lbs. Funny thing was it was caught on a 3-4 inch live sucker minnow. The way it ripped out line when rod was in holder, I figured it was a flat.

Well, I think my catfishing days are over for the year. I had a bad miss hap yesterday with my cat rods. Some how when I was at work, my wife opened auto garage door and polls got tangled up in door. She swears it was an accident, but offered no remorse. When I got home early Sun. Morning I brought rods in and leaned against my Otter on top of freezer. My mistake! I guess they fell into door and when door was going up; they got tangled into track and got further sucked in. Then she closed door right away and they were smashed again in track of door. They are gone and two walleye rods to boot.

What do ya do? It was a great year!

Too bad to hear shack but now you have an excuse to buy some new rods and your wife shouldn't really complain...much smirk.gif

I called it a season last Sunday. Beautiful night and managed a lil 15lb flattie.

Thanks Darren for running things this summer.

Oh Boy.

If you guys knew how close this was.....well let's just say ANY upgrade could seal the deal. The whole thing might come down to a half an inch. I never would've thunk.

....and I passed the chance to wet a line tonight confused.gif
