If you're shooting anything other than an Autoloader, after shooting, remember to chanber another round! I know how bad this sounds, but I was hunting with an ex-girlfriend a few years ago. She shot a nice doe and it fell in her tracks. She didn't bother to chamber another round since it went down right away. By the time we got out of the stand, she got up and ran off. I didn't think about it until we were tracking the doe (we saw her up ahead a few times) because I instincitvely chamber another round, but she forgot and the chambered empty caused more unnecessary tracking for us. So, Chamber another round right away!!!

Tip: If you are not 1000000000% sure that you are looking at a deer in your scope, for god sakes, don't pull the dang trigger.

I am getting sick and tired of seeing these stories on the news about how some guy died because someone in his party "thought he was a deer" and shot him, even though he was covered in blaze orange from head to toe. There's just no excuse for that kind of stupidity.

So be careful out there fellas, and make sure it's a deer!

this goes along with Phunny's post. Wear 100% blaze orange meaning head to toe. I have worn 100% blaze all my life and has not hindered my performance one bit, I do have a camo blaze jacket but it is still about 80% blaze, to tell you the truth I don't think solid orange is going to give you away either. Everthing I wear into the deer woods in rifle season is orange, hat, jacket, pants, muff, except for my gun and boots. I'd rather be safe than sorry. This is a good tip for those hunting public land with weekend warriors all around who have had a few too many drinks the night before.

I have a pet peeve with the hunting shows on tv where all they wear is a small plastic blaze vest that doesn't cover all of their torso and a blaze cap. don't be cheap go get set of blaze clothes.
