led lighting .....48 led bulbs anyone buy them?

I took a look at them but have a few questions with a 12' house. Should I buy 4 (2 for each side) for adequate lighting or would one on each side centered do the trick? Do you have yours mounted to the ceiling or at floor level by the holes? What kind of light do they throw off - is it pretty intense? If so is there an option of hooking them to some kind of dimmer (mood lighting for the gal shocked.gif) to minimize the eye strain when the rattle reel goes off at 2:00am?

Just looking for a little more, they appear to be a good solution compared to the square RV type I am running now.

i would probably buy 4, the extra light is nice once in a while. My 16' house has 6 lights. one above the table, one above the stove, one in the bathroom, and 3 in the main ceiling. They are pretty bright, not a blinding bright but more than bright enough. I dont think they will work with a dimmer, instead i would maybe hook each one to its own switch or something that way in the middle of the night you can turn on just one and not blind yourself. i installed mine in the ceiling. I bought 4" round hole covers for the round electrical boxes and cut like an 1 1/2" hole in it....the light sticks out of the hole about 1/8". I glued the light in with epoxy and used spade connectors to connect to the posts on the back of the lights. I had to crush the connectors a bit for a tight grip, i also wrapped one terminal in tape to avoid one of the spades from turning and touching the other one.

hope this helps......make sure you buy the wide angle ones though. bright white or warm white i dont think theres much difference. I have installed 12 of these lights between 2 houses and am very satisfied. i would buy at least one more than you need cuz you will find a spot for it lol

I was looking at the flexible waterproof strips 48 cm long. I have a portable and I am thinking of mounting the 48 to the horizontal bar above the door and two 24 cms on the bar as well on the sides. I think I will use some sort of plyable silicone sealant to stick them to the bars and run the wires inside the bars to keep things nice and clean.

I just got mine in today (woo-hoo) only took a week from hong kong I was thinking much longer. I hooked one up to my vex. and it seemed very bright, two would suite my portable fine, for the big house i think i would get 4 just to be safe it should be plenty.... Thanks to you guys i would be filling up the lantern and changing mantles on a regular basis, plus not haveing to let the dang lantern cool off before I pack it away a big plus for me, thanks for the tips people.

ilovehardwater - what color did you go with? I was looking at the bhk site and trying to decide between the white and warm white. I haven't used any of the LED lights before, so I'm not sure if one color is easier on the eyes than another.

jwhjr , I went with the white 48cm I got 2 strands. Now it's a matter of finding the right location to place them in the fish house and wireing them up, each strand has 48 led's in it, one per cm, so were talking 96 led's total. I think they are ideal for fish houses/portables.

Well, I just got mine hooked up and I have to admit they are bright as heck, Two strands are plenty of light, almost like I'm on top of mystic lake, lol. Also got some reflectix and put it in today, I might have used too much, I used a 4ft. wide roll 25 feet long, Its kinda hard to get on my sled cover. You will be happy with your purchase, update us when you get them installed. BT

They use very little power, I'll bet you you can run 2 strands for days on a vex battery no problem. just use your vex like you normally would and unless you plan on being out for a long time you should be fine. I think someone on this site ran thier lights hooked up to a vex battery for days and had plenty of power left in the battery. just do a search on led lights in this site and you will find alot of info. TroutAngler, I have a 2 person flip over, and like I said 2 strands work perfect for it. If you have a one man flip over one might do it. If I were you I would buy just the one and install them as soon as you get them, If you need another strand just buy another one, doing this will cost you more because you have to pay doubble the shiping cost but if you don't need the second string your going to save the cost of the extra string. I have NEVER wired anything in my life EVER, all I did was go to wally world and buy some speaker wire one wire red and one wire black, 18 or 16 gague I believe and used a wire stripper to the ends and basically twisted the ends and electrical taped them together. I attached some aligator clips to the ends , the aligator clips go onto the vex and presto, suggestions: 1.drill a hole in your tent poles and run the wires through the pole. 2:use some heat shrink rubber or some elecreical tape for the aligator clips otherwise you may see some big sparks (dont ask how I know this). Mine works just fine and I have NO expierence at all with wireing anything. Others may have better tips than me on this subject. gl BT

I looked at many different kinds of LED lighting before I chose the Hong Kong strips. Nothing I saw could come close to matching the volume of light they give off in such a compact size. I initially ordered 2 strips and was shocked when they arrived in a small padded manila envelope...about 5X7 inches. I thought I had been ripped off until I attached them to a battery---they really perform well! I've been sold on them ever since.

I got them for many reasons.

1. There are 48 bulbs per strand, I have 2 strands so a total of 96 led's.. very bright.

2. I do not need to buy batteries because I have the 12volt power source (flasher).

3.They are waterproff

4.They are extremely light and flexiable to mold around bars ect.

5.I believe its a cheap light source and takes up almost no room in the fish house.I wouldnt doubt if the two strands cost less than one strand of the store bought led lights.

6. The light source is always there, no packing and un packing.

7. The great people on here have used them before and they sound like they have a good reputation. gl. BT

I've been looking at them this weekend and they sound like a great lighting system. In another post I was asking about the LED lantern but I'm thinking this is the better way to go.

How long do they take to arrive after ordering?

Thanks

Mike

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
