Borch
My daughter have shot many ducks and several geese with her 870 20 gauge with 3" Federal #3 & #2 steel shot. Keep the shots at a reasonable distance and the fowl will not know they were shot with a 20 instead of a 12.
Ufatz
Carefully shoot at reasonable ranges and you'll do fine. I have taken many ducks with a twenty. But, I am really puzzled by your statement that your 12-guage "blew out a barrel shooting trap." Jeeeze, a Beretta? Seems sorta unusual. Have you contacted them about that? What happened? winniewalleye777
I shot my rem 870 20 ga. for waterfowl a little bit last year, and I used 3" Kent Fasteel #2 and #3. It got the job done on a few longer range geese and was very consistent with ducks and pheasants at close range.

Were you shooting handloads? I'm sure the factory people are going to be very seriously interested in the incident.
