Flocking Kits Good or Bad

Anybody using the flocking kits? Do they work? Any tips on modifying, best ways to deploy, or use more efficently etc.? Does Gander Mtn. carry them?

I used a flocking kit I bought at Cabela's last year to do the head/neck of a couple dozen geese and I thought it worked pretty well. You brushed on a black adhesive and then sprinkled on the flocking, let it dry and repeat. You need to use a large bowl/box to catch the extra flocking so you don't lose it all over the floor and so it lasts longer. They looked sweet when they were finished and after a season of use they held up, but looked a little more "matted" down than when they were fresh. Probably not as good as the decoys that come flocked, but better than unflocked.

I think you can find bigger flocking kits on-line for about the same price but I don't know how they would compare. I also heard that you can use black spraypaint as the adhesive.

I had a flocking gun for taxidermy. (plaque mounts, velvet antlers, etc.) I bought black flocking and did my decoys and it looked awsome!!! Id do it again! I want to get a black, green and/or irridesant mix to do Mallards, I think that would be the next big thing!!

Its messy but easy, Id do it!

I have flocking kits for my goose decoys and for my mallard decoys. In the kits I bought I received a couple plastic ketchup bottles that you fill up with flocking and just puff it out over oil based paint. It works great and looks awesome in the field or in water. I did all the tails on all of my geese and it looks great to go along with the factory flocked heads. I did all my drake mallard heads too. The flocking does a great job of taking away the un-natural shine of the decoys in early light when they are damp from the dew or water.

sorry but I have another question but what is the name of the material is it just flock or flocking material. Because it looks like a product I can pick up at fabric store or a Jo-Ann fabrics??? Any idea? Because it looks like something I might give a try on the remaining decoy heads that I have.
