2 DA GILLS
What are people using out there? $25 calls? $125 calls? What calls do you like best and what do recommend?I personally stick with the $25 calls. I like to have 4 or 5 around my neck and seem to lose them. So $125 each would not be good for me.I have a couple Quack Heads, a couple Duck Commanders and a few others that I am not even sure what the brands are, but they are good situational calls. I like to have a loud open water style call for the high balls and them some calls that are better for the low volume calling. I even prefer one of my calls for the feed chuckle. I often use 3 calls for a single calling sequence. Needless to say, I hardly ever get the first shot off at a flock. Too many calls in my hands. Sartell Angler
For duck calls I blow a Primos Timber Wench, a Primos whistle, a Haydel's DR-85, and an old wooden Faulks...all cheap calls, all put birds in the dekes.I'm not convinced that you need a $150 call to be effective on ducks and geese...something to get their attention and to talk back and forth with them until they commit (then stop calling) is my method. I put more emphasis on the decoy spread and covering up well and see enough results to keep me coming back for more. Good luck! Less than a week until early goose season!!!SA/wdw
IceHawk
My duck calls all consist of the duck commander series by Phil Robertson. Not real expensive calls but I will assure you they have put alot of birds in the bag. I aggree with Sartell angler, expensive calls arent required to get birds scouting, planning, decoyplacement, etc are what get you birds!!
koonie
I use an Olt 66, a couple of Mick Lacy, RNT, Faulks, and a call from performance calls. The Performance call is an all around awesome call. Can be used for loud ringing hail calls and quiet quacks and feeding chuckles. The Mick Lacy calls are very loud and crisp. The Olt 66 is very easy to blow and a consistent performer. Fish&Fowl
Echo makes great calls at a reasonable price. I also have a mick lacy single-reed and it sounds great. Both calls are under $40.

dukhnt
I don't leave home without my foiles migrators strait meat mallard. Sure other calls put birds in the decoys. But I love the way it sounds and it was a gift I received.

Seabass77
I think the echo poly's are a great bang for the buck. I am picking up a coco/poly echo for this season. I have the echo open water DR on my lanyard now.
