New Tiller Gas Tank adding a connector fitting

I bought a new 6 gal tank for my tiller boat. Do I have to put anything on the threads before I screw it into the tank? The tank is plastic and the fitting is brass.

I put teflon tape on mine just to make sure it did,nt leak.

Its cheap and dont hurt!

Gas will destroy teflon tape.

There is two types of teflon tape.The white color is for air/water ap

lication and the yellow is for gas/other aplications.Use plumbers goop instead of teflon tape.Hope this helps,c63
