Eddie Griffin #41 of Former Timberwolves forward Eddie Griffin was killed early Friday morning when the vehicle he was driving crashed into the side of a moving train in Houston, the Harris County Medical Examiner's office said today.

Griffin, 25, was driving a Nissan sports-utility vehicle and traveling west when he disregarded a railroad-warning signal, according to the Houston police incident report. Griffin drove through the railroad arm and then struck the side of a Union Pacific train as it traveled south on the tracks at about 1:30 a.m. Friday. The vehicle caught fire as the train stopped.

Griffin, who was driving alone but was not named on the original incident report because authorities needed time to identify the body, died at the scene

It does sound like suicide. He had problems with booze and other things. 1:30 a.m., could have been coming home from the bar and had a couple to many? ESPN reported that the body was so badly burned that they needed dental records to idenify the body. R.I.P. Eddy!!

Sad news. He was a stud at Seton Hall. He probably left too early. He did have some games with the T wolves where he showed his potential...heck of a shotblocker for his size, incredible timing, excellent work on the boards....The NBA takes a toll on bodies and just as importantly minds. A year ago at this time Eddie was the butt of many jokes with his other driving accident in Minneapolis

Just really sad news losing someone so young frown.gif
