Speaking of gas gauges...

Heartman

Question

Just about done with my permanent gas tank install, and have question about wiring gas gauge. The one I have has three threaded posts coming off the back - my polyethelene tank has a 2 wire, black and red lead coming out of the sending unit. The tank is brand spanking new - never been wired.

Anyone want to try and explain how I wire the gauge? I'm assuming the third post off the back of the gauge is to ground, which I believe is not needed with a plastic tank. Right? Wrong? How do from here?

You know, I run a 75 Merc tiller, and the ignition key is right on the front of the motor, with the ignition wires pretty well buried.

Is there a way I can just wire the gauge with a simple fused switch - like an extra switch on my panel?

That's kind of what I was thinking of...that, and the battery drain if I leave it on! But I also think it will be easier this way than to involve the ignition wires. Plus having evolved from a vast eastern european gene pool, it was a bit complicated for me. wink.gif;);)
