Fluker
So Double D and I hit Tonka on Friday. My 2nd pre fish trip and it was another tough one. 13 hours and the first 12 hours yielded a big fish of 2-9. Deitz caught that one, and had a 2-7 smallie before that, so he had me whupped all day. With 1 hour left I hit one of my normal areas and whacked a 3-15. Oh did the whining start. "You just had to hit one more spot and take my dollar." Kinda felt good to be on top. 20 minutes later, Deitzy whacks a 4-6, end of story. LOL! My last dollar of that day had been given in a tip at Fletchers, and Deitzy wouldn't take quarters (just like a dancer!) so I thought I'd repay via the world wide internet! Here you go buddy! Deitz Dittrich
LOL @ Fluker! NOw how the heck am I supposed to put that in my trophy case?My highlight of the day was when the water skier dude gave us the dirty look and said "I guess this is the only good fishing spot on the whole lake?" We were in the middle of the lake on some hump, but we were in his way of water skiing I guess? We left.
ikeslayer
Way to give it a good ending though fluker, I just caught my biggest of the year on a dropshot last week as well. Stupid how well it works. Deitz has a pretty good record when it comes to the dollar if i am not mistaken though. ike

I guess that was the only good spot to water ski in the whole lake? When you guys drop shot is there a certain Hook\Plastic set up that you guys prefer and How much tag end? I went through Deitz's pod cast and learned how to tie that Palomar knot and wanna give it a try for bass but also for panfish.
Fluker
The funny thing was that we had just came out of another part of the lake where we had a ski boat move in close to us and throw a couple wakes over the bow. And on this spot, we had the same thing happen. I had been using some Eagle Claw hooks but down to 3 now. I've since been using the Gammy SS/DS hooks in #1. In just the 2 trips I've taken with DD, we've caught fish on probably a dozen different baits and colors. I haven't found the one magic bait yet, but so far anything with a smaller profile and then of course match color to water clarity. My tag end is usually whatever length happens to be left. Fluker
I'm using a #1 most of the time. I have used #2 on occasion, and 1/0 on occasion. I'm not sure on DD's size, but it looks like a 1/0.
