best gps chip for atv use

I need some advise on the best gps chip for atv use

I use a Lowrance Expedition C with Lakemaster chip, it has been great for mn use.

I have not tried any other options so I am not sure if it is the "best".

I have the Garmin 60csx with City select (city navigator now) I am amazed at all the little side roads this thing has on it. Even has the forest roads were I am in Northern MN.

Also this unit will do turn by turn routing for auto navigation and accepts the lakemaster chip. 2 thumbs up.

Does the lakemaster chip have atv trails on it? I haven't checked mine out yet.

I don't think your going to find a GPS with pre-loaded atv trails on it. However I have a Garmin 60cs and the topo map package downloaded into it, most trails follow old logging roads etc...so some trails do actually show up. If you plan on buying a lakemaster chip and a Garmin GPS, you'd better check the compatability, last year they weren't and I ended up with a lowrance H2O in addition to the Garmin. So now I have two!

Just got back from WI over the weekend and was suprised to see many of the atv/snowmobile trails on the map and pretty much all the forest roads. It wasd really nice always being able to figure out exactly where we were at.

Where did you guys get your lakemaster chip? I have the H2O also and I see the chip is about $100. Anywhere cheaper?

I paid $80 for mine at the Ice Fishing show.

I ordered the freedom topo map from LEI extras. It was cheaper than hsolist, but they are on backorder for a week or two. When I get it, I'll see how it is.
