Do you guys use the peep with the rubber hose attached to it? I got one on my new bow because i like the idea that it will always be open, BUT i have had some problems... I got the bow at the end of June, and i have had it retied twice, a total of three times being tied. it keeps moving up on me. I have to bring in my bow tonight to have the FUSE stringshox replaced on my new Hoyt (the bottom one is being cut in half by the string and the top one, the two biggest "lobes" on it broke off). I plan on having the peep tied one more time where i got the bow, then i plan on either going somewhere else if it moves again, or put on one of the ones without the tube. The tube is also causing some discoloration on my cable from shooting.

What do you guys have for a peep, and what do you recomend??

I'm not a fan of having a peep with the tubing... For a couple of reasons...

A)Its added weight to the string, and does slow the bow down(yet probably only 1-5 fps...)

B)It can fail at any time(this is probably the biggest reason)

c)added noise, it does store some of the bows vibration and there is a sound to it.

IF you have a quality string on your bow(most bows do not come witha very high quality string.. its a lot like crankbaits, good bait, poor hooks in the package)If yoru bow has a quality string, once you get your peep set it should rotate around the same every time. It does take some time to set it.. but once its there, you should be fine unless you increase or decrease your bows poundage.

For hunting, the larger the hole the better for light penitration... for target, the smaller the better for accuracy.

The peep that I have actually has screw in attachments that changes the size of the hole.. that way when I am shooting a 3D shoot I can put a small hole in.. but when hunting I can put the largest in.

Is your peep secured on your bow string with serving? Sounds to me like it isn't. As long as you have secured your peep with serving, then it shouldn't move. And it doesn't matter much if the elastic band moves a little on your cable, as long as it stays in the same place on your string.

I use the "no-peep" and like it a lot.

A little tricky to set up at first, but haven't touched it since.

Now I draw back, touch my nose to the string and glance at the No-peep for alignment. Once I see the bullseye then my pins are all I have to look at.

Much brighter too.

Thanks for the input, keep it coming. FYI It was tied in with serving. It is the new Hoyt Vectrix, with the Fuse custom strings it comes with. I don't know how those are in quality, you tell me. The discoloration on the cable i am pretty sure is from the tube hitting the cable when i shoot, and the repeated impact is causing a little discoloration, not too big a deal i think, i just put a litle wax there to calm the fuzzies and hopefully it will help. The first time the peep was tied in i had problems withe the tubing, i think they cut it too short, it would come untied, and pull off the peep, but only when i shot, never on the draw or while aiming.

Update:

Last night i went to the pro shop i bought it from they replaced the string silencers with the same Fuse ones it came with, the guy there said they were better than the limb saver string leeches, so that is what i put on. they also retied the peep, hopefully it stays. if not i will either go somewhere else and have them tie it, or put on the no tube kind. It is getting within in a month of opener and i am getting nervous about changing things and not getting used to them before season starts. especially since my shooting time will drastically reduce starting in september when i go back to school.

I have used a tube on my peep all of my shooting days, 35 years. I have never had a problem with the tube to date. Yes, I do change it every two years and always carry a spare lenght along. Peep is always straight and never an issue with using it.

I used to use the one without a tube for years, and out of the blue it wouldnt open up properly and the string would sometimes be in the way. I switched to the tube and have not had a problem since.

I doubt it, but since your bow is new could it possibly be stretching. Or are you anchoring differently?

If it does it again maybe try a different shop.
