Lund 1625 classic ss

I have a 1625 with a 40hp merc 4 stroke and a 12 pitch prop. The boat tops out at 28-29 mph at 6000rpm with 2 adults gas, gear and a full livewell. Do I have the right prop? Anyone else have this boat and motor?

Just to compare, I have a 1660 Classic with a 50-4 stroke. With two in the boat max speed at 5800 rpm's is 33.5. Bigger motor and a little bigger boat. I had a 12 pitch prop but they changed it to another.

I'd say you are pushing your max RPM's right to the limit.

If your happy with the hole shot fully loaded it sounds about right but be carefull with the those RPM's you wouldn't want to go any higher IMO.

On the 50 4-stroke I have, the max rpm's that Mercury wants it to run is 6000. They prefer 5,850.
