Best Portable Sonar Unit

Carp-fisher

Question

Hi all,

I scout waters in a float tube and I may purchase a kayak soon. In the past, I've used an older Eagle portable unit and I've experimented with my Vex Fl-8. I've had decent luck jerryrigging the transducer with a bungee cord and/or a dowel with some duct tape. Whats the best portable unit out there for under $600 bucks? Thanks,

Ben

ps. I know its a goofy site to see a guy in a float tube with sonar, but let me tell you that a float tube has superior control as compared to a bloat. Once an underwater weedline has been located, staying right on it is pretty easy. No fumbling with an electric motor needed; just flick your ankle.

X67c for me. I GPS with the M68c is a cool idea, but it doesn't accept map chips, so I think it's pretty useless. I have an X67c with an H2Oc RAM mounted in the softcase that gives me the best of both worlds in portable sonar/GPS.
