LMITOUT
Did anyone else catch the last 10 laps of that Busch race today? Holy cow! Robby Gordon has officially lost his mind. Nascar black flagged him but he wouldn't go to the back for the green-white-checker finish. He spun out Ambrose who was leading and finished in front of Harvick, although Harvick was the winner because of the black flag. Gordon did the cool down lap with Harvick and they both did burnouts to celebrate! ROFL! Gordon said his black flag wasn't warranted and that he was the winner and will file a protest/appeal. In his small mind he honestly believes he won. I thought there would be an all-out brawl between his team and Ambrose's team but nothing happened. Ambrose should have won that race but the black-flagged Gordon car spun him out. Quite the ending to an otherwise very boring race. I left and came back just in time to catch the last 10 or so laps and glad I did.
yaggie
I am definatly not a fan of Robby Gordon but He did get a terrible call by NASCAR. The replays clearly show him in front and an official waving yellow flag before he was hit from behind and spun. This still dosen"t excuse his stupidity. LMITOUT
Gordon is suspended for today's race.
harvey lee
I'll agree Yaggie. Very bad call and Robby blew it when he did what he did. I wonder if that would have happened to a popular driver if the call would have been the same? I hate to suggest that but, it was a terrible call on the track. JohnMickish
I just finished watching the race this morning feel if Gordon had a better reputation, maybe one as a clean driver with a clean history with NASCAR the ruling might have been different. However techinically the ruling was right and there werent any judgment calls in it. I feel the ruling was wrong but Gordon got what he deseves. I think Gordon should have restarted in 2nd and been told to keep it clean. We never got to see EXACTLY where the two cars where when the yellow first got called, only after the corner being waived by a person, not an instant yellow light. You don't know but that corner worker might have taken several seconds to put the yellow out. Also, if you watch his pass of the 59 the 55 was in the grass with two wheels, I thought you couldn't gain a position away from another car when you are off the racing surface? Thats why when you blow thru the chicane you have to give the positions gained back, or get black flagged. Anyways, Gordon is a (fill in your own word here). harvey lee
A ruling should not be made depending on your reputation. If you were wrong you are wrong, shouldn't depend on who you are. I know it works that way in life but boy it is wrong.
JohnMickish
So then the ruling was right. He failed to maintain speed, therefor they put him where he blended back in. Any judgement call would have gone in his favor, and he has screwed himself out of any judgement calls for life. One thing we havent talked about is since there wasn't a camera all the way around the track we don't know HOW Robbie got along side the 59. Something to think about and maybe thats why he got spun out after the turn.
harvey lee
You really confuse me.
JohnMickish
He was ruled to have not kept up with the pace speed (he was sitting sideways), so they put him where he blended back in with the other cars (that is the rule as I understand it and it is what was handed out). Gordon did not agree with the ruling so he stayed where he thought he should be, and was black flagged because he didn't follow the rules.
yaggie
The issue here is Robby was in front when the camera showed the yellow flag was out. He was spun out after this. If he was driving for one of the major teams I think it may have been called differently. If gordon would of kept a cool head (I know this is impossible) I think he would of had some support from the media and but pressure on Nascar officials to explain why their decision didn't match up with what the camera showed. Sifty
Rules are rules.......But if he would have had a cool head I think that he would of had a case.Sifty
harvey lee
I see the problem being that once the penalty is called, NASCAR doesnt change anything. I dont agree with Robby doing what he did later but the original call was not right and some other drivers would never have been called for it. Thats the real problem with these calls. Some can do it and some cant.If Robby would have just went back he would not have recieved any further penalty but the original bad call would not have been change or went away. LMITOUT
Robby isn't such a bad guy. He's letting Ambrose drive the #77 in the Nextel race at Watkins Glen. The car will even have Ambrose's sponsor on it (Camping World will be the primary sponsor though). Awwww. Makes me feel all fuzzy inside.
TNFL
I actually have more respect for the guy for standing up to "the Man". Wish I would have seen it!Go get em Rob!
LMITOUT
I agree. We need more black sheep out there. I don't like the fact that he spun out Ambrose though. I'm fine with how he stood his ground and stayed in 2nd place, but he should have raced Ambrose clean, knowing that spinning him out wasn't the right thing to do since he was officially black flagged. harvey lee
I would have done exactly what Robby had done as far as spinning the other dude out. I may have went back but he still would hace recieved the bumper at some point. From what I have observed from years of going racing is, if you let another racer take a cheap shot at you and get away with it, you will recieve more of them. Sometimes you have to strand your ground and give them the chrome horn.
