Musky Lures for Lake Of the Woods

Recommended Posts

My suggestion would be to get a copy of "Muskies on the Shield" and do what Dick Pearson says. The primary lures he suggests up there are bucktails, spinnerbaits, Suick-type lures, topwater, and Believers.

Just cover your bases and you'll be fine. I fish mainly in Sabaskong Bay, but the same patterns/lures work at Morson. With the warmer water I personally have been having alot of luck on topwater...with the TopCat from Bigfork Lures being my best bait. However, SandCats and CherryBombs have worked well as a subsurface jerkbait. Bulldogs are also working well for me as are Jakes. Colors, lure speed, etc. will have to be figured out as you go.

I just talked to Dick Pearson the other day. He just got back from a week of fishing up there. Boat 24 Musky's in 7 days, including a couple of over 50. Don't know what he got them on, but they must be biting!

44" musky was caught off of my dock yesterday. Crappie fishing with a weighted hook and minnow. Maybe not the lure of choice, but always an option. lol

Anyhow, I'm the new resort owner of Obabikon Bay Camp just north of Sabaskong. Just thought I'd say hello.

Anything with white was working 2 weeks ago at the angle. Most success was reportedly with D-Cowgirls, but our group had success on bucktails and topwaters in white.

Good luck
