mrjigger
I was wondering how hard it is to pull out a submersible well pump. I have removed the well cap and can see the steel chain which I think would be used to pull up the pump, however, I have been reluctant to do it since I am afraid I wouldn't know how to get it "hooked" back up.a little background info: I live in an area with high iron content in the water, and I would like to pull the pump out to clean the screen. I have a feeling it is coated with rust. I have made some calls to see what it would cost for a prof. to come pull the pump and clean it and I have been quoted $400 to $500. Seems kind of high for the job. What is involved in the process of pulling the pump? Thanks.
sparcebag
Actually its easy,EXCEPT! a tool to disconnect the connection where the line to house hooks to the casing, disconnecting it is fairly easy reconnecting is where the tool and experience pays off! jps
If you have a high iron content, more than likely need to what is called acidizing the pump. Had this done about once a year when we were using well water with high iron. pretty simple to do but we hired it done. Good luck!! jps
