Grant Pearson
that's what I like to hear!!! No disrespect intended, but this forum is full of wealth and knowledge about muskies and how to catch them. It would be wise to pay attention to what's catching the big ones, especially if it's constantly. Only a fool would be in hear and not learn from what others have to say. especially if you want to improve as a musky hunter.
Rebel9921
Matty... if you are going to Thorne Bros... Just stand back... look at the Cowgirls... and grab the one that catches your eye... Thats what I did online with my Cowgirl... actually three or four grabbed my attention and I had to choose one at that time... but no worries... sooner or later I'll be getting all that I wanted... Caleb
FYI. If you are at thornes, and you use abu reel, grab a powercrank handle...very important! First time users will get a beating. I know the cow is an awesome lure just you really have to get used to it. It will ease the pressure the lure puts on you from cranking. Smoother cranking etc.
ole matty
thanks guys and no i m not first timer i had use powerhandle b4 but its not worth my money but hey its just my opinion.
Quackaddict9
what he saidI dont have the powerhandle when using the cowgirl and I dont have any problem. I see many musky fishermen who dont use powerhandles and catch fish. Although its $10 more to put it on. I can use the $10 for gas.again, everyone has opinions and preferences

AWH
Rebel,I hate to say it, but once you hit 100, that just means you'll need 150, then 200, then....in the 18 years that I've been chasing these fish, the need for more lures hasn't come to an end yet! I probably have 150+ (haven't counted and probably don't want to know). Yet how many do I use on a regulur basis? On a given day, probably half a dozen. For a season, probably about 25. But there's always a need for more. Yep, I think we all have a sickness!Aaron

Rebel9921
Now that I finally caught a muskie... I guess Im gonna revise my list... 1. Double Cowgirl... especially the pink/pink one... thats the lure that I used when I caught my first ever Muskie... Nobody should be caught without it at all!!! That would be like going to school totally naked!!! I've seen Luke's collection of Double Cowgirls... I would say half of them have been beaten up such as bent wire shaft, plating or paint coming off the blades, etc etc... Huge testimonies right there how much Muskies go crazy over Cowgirls!!!2. 10,000 Casts
My Top Five, 1. Eagle Tail- Now that everyone is throwning double cowgirls, I like the fact that I'm not... ok, I throw Double cowgirls quite a bit but I like the Eagle Tail better. 2. Bulldog- On the rocks they are tough to beat. My favorite is the Heli Dog. 3. Magnum Pacemaker- IMO the best topwater propbait that there is. Tink... Tink... Tink... 4. Suick- enough said.5. Rad Dog, They run awsome and they catch fish, and they are cheap.

mntwins84
Okay, beginner here. I've already purchased a double cowgirl after reading everyone’s suggestions. I'm looking for 2-3 more lures to get going for now. I spend most of my time trolling. What would you guys recommend as a good complement to the cowgirl that would work well trolling?
Rebel9921
Double Cowgirl, Double Cowgirl, Double Cowgirl and Thats it... you're done... Cowgirls can be used in MANY ways including trolling!! LOL Nahhh... Basically... to sum it all up from what I have learned... invest $500 in muskie lures... anything that catches your eye and gives you confidence in using them, then learn how to use them... Basically... it all boils down to this: Right lure, right presentation, right time, right place, right temp, right depth, right structure, right etc etc and right muskie mood... and chances are that your muskie's there... I know Im not much help... sorry...
Dano_the_jigasaurus
A large crankbait like a grandma or jake is typically a good choice, they are good trolling lures and they can be rip or twitch fished when not trolling. Get a spinnerbait, I am a fan of single blade Rad Dogs, you can slow roll, jig, burn, walk, and they are typically weedless. A smaller bucktail would also be a good investment, since there are times that speed killls, Showgirls, Hirsch Ghosttails, mini or lil' eagle tails. The last bait I would invest in is a plastic bait either a bulldawg or a Delong Flying Witch, they are very different baits, but they both catch fish and work as a throw back bait for me. The dawg can be used as a primary bait for jiggin rock, burning weeds, counting down to suspended fish, and trolled. good luckdan
