Your best bet would be to mark spots on your own. I mapped out a reef that doesn't even show up on the Lakemaster chip over the 4th weekend. Took me about an hour of trolling around and putting in waypoints (30ft, 20ft 15ft depths). But now I know the shape and size of this reef, and exactly where I am set up on it.

The thing is all maps on that chip-CD are only DNR reproductions some made in the 50s!The maps with 3ft.contours or better are new improved maps.So your on your own with a basic generalized map thats close,DONT rely on Lat. Lon. cords. either!

Here's what I've done:

Say you want to mark a dropoff along a shoreline that runs north and south. Motor your boat out to wherever you want to start and find the dropoff, which we'll say starts at 6 ft and drops steeply to 18 feet. I'll start comming from the north and zig zag the dropoff, marking waypoints on the very bottom of the dropoff(18 feet) every time it levels off on the depthfinder. Go as far south as you want to go and you'll end up with a line of waypoints that establishes the bottom of the dropoff. If you mark the top of the dropoff too it's an easy way to find those spots that are fairly steeper than the rest of the break also inside corners.

MArking a reef kind of works the same way where you'd zig zag back and fourth over the reef marking the top, bottom, a certian depth, whatever you want to go by. Hope this helps.
