Most dissappointing game of the season!!

I held back on posting, because I didn't want emotions to get the best of me, but they still are, so here goes....

We get 7 spectacular innnings out of Garza, make a ridiculous error on a ball that every other shortstop in baseball could cleanly play with their eyes closed(Bartlett).....give up a 0-2 RBI single(Garza), fail to get a bunt down to move runners to 2nd and 3rd(Punto), take 3 fastballs right on the plate for a strikeout with 2 guys on(Maurer), wave a pitches for a strikeout in a clutch 2 out situation(Cuddyer). Just a very poorly played game by our beloved Twinkies!! I know it is only one game, but with a lineup that lacks as much punch as ours does, you can't make errors on routine plays, you can't go down looking at 3 fastballs if you are the number 3 hitter, the reigning batting champ with runner on. The Twins still have a decent chance, but you can't argue that the Tigers don't have a better day-day lineup, some really good starting pitching and a when they get healthy a great bullpen(except at closer)

Okay, I am done venting now. I feel better. Hopefully Santana is AUTOMATIC tonight!!

I agree. Garza was brilliant all night except for that 0-2 pitch that he let hang in there. Very poor discipline and execution at the plate all night. There were also a couple innings there where we were letting their pitcher off easy by swinging at the first pitch or two and getting out which allowed him to keep his pitch count way down. Then when we got patient, we got TOO patient. I was very disappointed as well. Let's get a win tonight!

I was at the game last night and it was very enjoyable. There are reasons why the Tigers are first and we're third. Too bad for Garza but that's how it goes; Twins haven't supported Silva all season. Oh well, that's baseball!

Thats what one gets from an average team with average players except for a few. Its hard to win with so many average at best players. Not negative, just realistic.

I love to watch the Twinkies but so many times the lack of a few better players always costs.

bad game no way. Execution??? not there. For every game the Twins play like they did on Tues night, they have 5 or 6 when they get it done. I liked Garza agst a very tough lineup. Black Magic tonight and i think we score lots of runs. the tribe lost. Were still in it, as I see the tribe dropping off......

The tribe won. They took out to stinkstox in 11.

Twins needed that game no doubt. You can't ask for better pitching. Joe Mauer is a great player obviously, but I agree on his at-bat there in the 6th. He was looking to walk and set the table there when he should have been looking to drive the ball. He let a few meatball pitches go right by. He should have been all over them. He needs to be more aggressive up there sometimes. And Cuddy was putrid in his at bat as well. That right there was our chance to win the game and we didn't get it done.

Teams can't be perfect every night. The twins lead the league in fewest errors. One bad game and everyone starts to jump off of the bandwagon. Bartlett has been playing well lately, don't crucify a guy for one bad play. Sure it was more on the routine side, but stuff happens, even the best make errors on routine plays once in a while. That's why they play the GAME. smile.gif

Tonight was another frustating game. 10 hits and only 2 runs? Bases loaded a few times and nothing. Two on in the eighth, no outs, game on the line and no runs score. How does Cuddyer go 4 for 4, Mauer 0-3, Morneau 0-3, Hunter 0-2, etc? Frustrating. We could have been up 2-0 in this series. Instead, we have beat 10-1 Bondermann just to avoid a sweep. Give credit to the Tigers.

Let's see if Baker shows his stuff tomorrow.

Wow was that a frustrating game!!

If they don't win today, I would say their goose is cooked, at least for the division.

The last three games against the Tigers, our pitching has allowed a total of 5 runs, yet we are 0-3 against them. That is pathetic.

If we don't see a trade within the next few days, I would say we are going to be sellers. There should have been a trade made before this series.

Ford, Tyner, Cirillo, Kubel, Punto, L-rod, Jones, Redmond.

Tell me which one of those guys gives you confidence at-bat in a clutch situation, other than Red-dog dropping a flare into right field? Well that is our bench and over 1/3 of our lineup. - YUCK!:D

Take it from a Tiger fan, you are not out of anything. One year ago, today, Twins were in third place, 9 1/2 games back. Three game series in July doesn't mean much, unless there's a sweep. Far too many interdivision games remain for anyone to get comfortable.

I'm still trying to figure out how we won two games in your park, scoring only four runs. Good thing we brought Maggs along on the trip. Game three starts in an hour, and I'm afraid my lunch break will be over. Good luck....ya.. right!

I have never been more frustrated as a Twins fan. I want to go to a game this weekend, but right now, I might not. If I see Mauer look at Strike 1 again all nite, I am gonna puke.

And if I hear anything about rondell white being an answer, I am gonna...I dunno what I am gonna do, but c'mon, he is not the answer. A slight upgrade? Sure, but that aint saying much.
