Can I just toss some product down and it will grow like you do with your grass?

There is some native "Weeds" growing in this open area and I am wondering if it is too late to toss something down?

Any product suggestions?

You gotta do some kinda prep work. There are some kinds on the market that call it a "throw and grow" mix. Sure, some might grow, but I just cant see it being enough to do much good.

Get some dirt worked up, and then you can have a fighting chance at getting a plot to grow.

Absolutely there is time to plant. You can plant up to Sept 1 depending where you are thinking of doing this. A tad earlier than Labor Day would be better overall. I've still got a handful of bags of seed left if anyone is interested.

I agree with BLB, you need to do some ground workup to get the seed to grow, either with a 4 wheeler or a garden tiller or by hand raking. Consider hitting it with Round-up 7-10 days before you work it up and plant. Better yet, use round up, work up in 10 days, let it sit for about 3 weeks so that most of the weed seeds germinate, work up again and plant. Shoot for a mid Aug planting. Does this spot get any sun? Planting totally in shady spots isn't the greatest, plants need sun to grow.
