Where to fish now that the water level is down...

Hello all! I had the pleasure of having a few pops with some of you at the get together at Land of Memories Park about a month ago and now I have a question for you pros. Tyler and I are looking at hitting the river again, but with the water levels down almost 4 feet(or so I've heard) is it safe/wise to run a propeller up the river? Any areas of the river that are deeper than others that would still produce good fishing? Any advice would be much appreciated...also, we're thinking of hittin' the river on the 28th. Hope to see you guys again.

Anybody?? I'm not asking for your honey holes, I was just curious if there are any portions of the Minnesota River near Mankato that tend to run deeper than others. Any info would be much appreciated, I'm sure Ty's boat would appreciate it as well.

If I had a boat I wouldn't be taking it out around Mankato unless it was a jet or until the river comes back up a few more feet. The river has come down 4.5ft since the cat gathering in June. If you want to get out in a boat I would suggest a stretch closer to the cities.

That 4' was a total guess from what I've seen around the Twin Cities. Looks like Rob has a big 10-4 confirmation on that. Its been dropping a good foot per week.

There's shallow water both up & down from the Mankato launch so you gotta be careful.

St Peter has a seriously shallow run as well that we've bounced the bottom of Grump's RP off of one night last year at these levels.

Henderson has lots of 2' deep water.

Belle Plaine & Jordan are getting better but you have to stay to the channel side of the river. Get on the wrong side of a bend and thump, thump! wink.gif

There is plenty of deeper, fishable water, but getting there with a boat is tricky
