Duffman
O.K. Guys, here is my deal. I've got a black cat heater and I want to cut a hole in the side of my fishtrap so the 1 lb. propane tank can sit outside my trap with the heating element inside. The heating element will then be touching the wall of my trap, I want to sew a piece of fireproof fabric to the wall to prevent going up in flames. Or at least keeping that blue fabric from going brown. Any ideas what and where I can find a fireproof fabric in the metro area? Just trying to optimize the limited space I have in the Fishtrap Magnum Deluxe.
Surface Tension
I would use the same thing you use for stove pipes that go through tent walls. I stove jack. There made out of sheetmetal.
Guest
Duffman,I have some flexable heatproof material where the stovepipe goes through my one pole rendevous tent. Maybe check with some buckskinner/rendevous sites for this???
Guest
DUFFMAN You cut a hole in the side of your trap and you're asking for a major RKG. Screw the heater and gain some weight ya lightweight ! :^) 12 pound octopus coming to Minnesota this winter. Don't worry Bub, it's not headed your way but I'll bet you have a good idea where I'd like to put it after the e mails from Thursday mornng and afternoon ! Wouldn't that be sweet !you might want to ask Keebo or Hrd-H20 on the fireproof materials. Those guys know a lot about that stuff

Guest
If you need a stove jack for your shelter, you can get one from Montana Canvas at 406-388-1225. They have 4,5, and 6" jacks. They are made of a non-combustable material. At the tent factory I watched as they put an actelene torch to it. Not a problem. By the way I am Norm Connors. Duffman
Thanks for the ideas, guys! Had the trap set up downstairs and was watching the T-wolves while I was in it. The Redhead just shook her head and went back upstairs. LOL
northern blue
Rather than cut a hole in the fabric why not buy an accessory hose that allows you to connect one end to the head of the black cat (inside the shelter) and the other to a 5 or 20lb propane tank (outside the shelter)....then all you have to do is run the hose under the wall of the shelter? Coleman makes such a hose and I'm sure other manufacturers do as well.
