Hoppers

Anyone know what % of a turkeys diet consists of grasshoppers this time of year? I know they're important for the little ones and have been seeing adult birds chasin them as of late.

2 falls ago we watched 9 longbeards chasin hoppers around in early Oct. An hour later I shot one of them and sure enough his crop was full of inch long green hoppers.

I've also found grasshoppers in the crops of pheasants that I've shot in the fall, even after there was snow on the ground! You wonder where the heck did they find them!!!
