External garage door opener

I'm thinking about getting one of those garage door openers that you put up outside of your garage that will open the door if you punch in a pre-set code. Where do I get them? How much do they cost? Are they easy to install? Are there brands to get or avoid?

You can get them at any hardware or big box home store. You just need to know what brand opener you have, and then find the model that works with your opener. They are basically just a garage door opener that uses key codes, as they are wireless these days, and you just screw them to the door trim. Most will do two openers, and you can program in temp codes, and time stamped codes, etc. Just don't lose your instruction manual after you install it, as you WILL need it again smile.gif Trust me, heh.

I think most are about $40. Worth every penny.

Your garage opener will need to be fairly modern. If code is set by a series of dip switches a wireless entry will not work for your garage. If your code is set by pushing a button on the garage then the remote access mentioned above will work as long as you get the correct one for your make and model number.
