Mercury OB shifting problem

NEANGLER

Question

I was out last night in the boat and when I went to trailer it I shifted to go forward and all it would do is go in reverse. It also goes reverse in neutral. Anyone have any advice about the linkage and maybe something slipped out or is it a little more involved than that. Any inforamtion would be great.

Thanks!

Check inside motor cowl where the cables hookup to linkage, there is a plastic clip that holds the cables stops into position.

You can remove the shifter but you will not see anything since it's all closed up.

If you want to take it apart be very careful and study very well how is it assembled.

You can also disconnect cables at motor and see if they move correctly with shifter.
