bulldogs???

Recommended Posts

How fast are you reeling them in? I haave had good luck with the shallow dawgs by reeling in 3-5 feet, letting them sink just about to the top of the weeds and reeling again, etc. I have found that the faster you reel the more they roll...

I have not tried the MicroDawgs but did pick up a springtimedawg? I think that's what it is called, about 1/2 the size of the regular Bulldawg. Have not had much time to give it a real test but from the few casts I made it sure seems to be a good lure. Great action, jerk it, straight retreive etc. The squirley tail has great action. Casts very well too as I think it is around 3/4 or 1 oz.

useing fluro leader but I took a good look at the bulldogs and the side wings I guess you would call them were all bent. I am assuming they were bent from the wrapper or pack they were in. I think i will start to inspect them a little more before buying them.

Hi,

I'm not sure those are enough to make the bait roll, but sure could be. I'd try a heat source to see if you can get them to lay flat. A lighter should work. Take the hooks off and you should be able to put it on the edge of something to make the rubber soft enough, but not too soft. Can't hurt if they are not running properly already.

Change out the split rings while you're at it too.

Let me guess, the $10 special at Gander Mtn?? Yes, I'd still change them out. I picked up several there and some had the two splits, but only one was attached, so what was the other one there for? Wolverine Trips or Bucher rings will do the trick. I'm off to Mille Lacs and will revisit the spot where we lost a big fish last year due to split opening up on a Dawg......still a major buzz kill to think about it.

Good luck, Chris

cjac,

Good luck on Mille Lacs. It's been a little slow for me the past few weekends with a lot of lazy follows but I've been seeing quite a few fish. Unfortunately, I'll be spending the next week in the desert instead of on Mille Lacs. Give me a call next time you're up on Mille Lacs or if you need a netman in the cities. cool.gif
