Who is ready?!?!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

I am getting there. Trail cam and stands out. Blinds will go out soon. New string and sight on the bow and it is feeling and shooting great. Except for the sight coming loose last night and loosing a few arrows in a tree behind my target before I figured out what was going on. lol.

Anwyay, t-minus 3 months. I am making it a goal to not overhunt, overdo it early season this year as experience is teaching me my outings are much more fruitful com late October/early November. Duh. I know. But just the same.

Is everyone else PUMPED?

Bows not ready, stands all checked but dont go up until August. Food plot didnt get planted.

It will still be a great fall hunt with many deer harvested. I'm never ready until the last two weeks. Too much fishing.

Stands have all been moved since april, might have to move one or two. sprayed roundup for a food plot and that is far as thats gone. Started to do a little glassing. With this hot weather Oct cant come quick enough for me. I love the cooler temps.

Not ready yet, too busy trying to fish & do honey-do's. Planning to work on a couple more permanents the first week in July, got one more built this spring, so am anxious to use that. Time to start shooting the bow again pretty soon.

Definitely getting the fever already... Went and passed my proficiency test for the local hunt today, so short of tweaking the sights for the broadheads and maybe buying a few new arrows I am darn near ready to go shocked.gif

I suspect there will be some new gadget I can't do without before season opens though... grin.gif

first timer here i am far from ready but working on it.

sorry to hijack the thread but i was wondering if you could specify what qualifying for a special hunt entails. as far as how far are the targets and how are you graded or how do you pass and fail for special CITY hunts

The Saint cloud hunt is an easy one to pass if you get drawn. thing problem with there test is six arrows in a 10 inch circle at 20 yards. I am sorry but if people cant put six arrows with broadheads in that size of an area at twenty yards they shouldn't even be thinking of hunting.

Hijack away. Do the organizers of city or special hunts like this help point you in the right direction? Meaning, tell or show you where good spots might be so you can increase your chances? I'm not being lazy, I'm just thinking the first year it would be nice for them to help offer some advice in places you might not normally have scouted or had access to.

Yep getting close to that time of year. Better blow the dust off my bow. I think I know where it is. Wouldn't mind trying for another moose up north. Got me a new stand ( still in the box ) Watching bowhunting videos gets me pumped but then I think it wears off. Shoot straight

Thanks roosterslayer. I've always been interested in signing up for one but afraid it would be fruitless if I signed up without having known or scouted the area and then ended up not even finding a place where I could hunt because it was all private, etc. Seems like you have to know someone who knows what they're doing so it doesn't turn out to be a waste of time and tag for someone who could utilize the hunt.

Also, got my Cabela's silent weave camo in predator fall gray last night. Really got me thinking about bow season. Game on!

Actually checker i would apply. the grounds are around the St. Cloud prision and in the parks area. there is plenty of ground to hunt and if i remember right you get a week to scout the ground and hang stands before the hunt. This is not a special tag or a special season you will use your regular archery tag and you can hunt the entire season there if you get drawn. It is good considering the deer there have no predators except cars and from the survey last year it showed like 50-80 deer per square mile.

Not the case in the St. Cloud hunt. At least it better not be. I didn't get drawn last year and recieved my preference points. if it has been changed to cloud residents only i may just go through the roof. Thanks BLB for bringing it up, i will check into it.
