Question about a dock

Scoot

Question

I'd like to replace one section of a dock. The material used in the dock (see below) appears to be some sort of plywood with a layer of some sort on top of it. Each section of the dock is 4' x 8'.

Can anyone tell me exactly what each section of the dock is made of? Where would be the best place to find a replacement section?

Scoot,

This looks like the same material that we had on our dock. It's a thin sheet of fiberglass laid over plywood. Ours rotted through over time. It's made by Hewitt docks and comes in 4X8 foot sheets. Pretty expensive (over $100.00) per sheet to replace. Once I found out the cost I went to aluminum docking and am glad i did.

I'm sure the swap over to aluminum would be great, but terribly costly. All I'd like to do is replace one section of the dock, since the rest are still good. I called a couple places yesterday and the cheapest I could find was $144 per section- frickin' ridiculous! Anyone know where I can get one cheaper?
