TrenPT
After years of bumming on my buddies boats, I finally got my own. I need to get a new boat battery. I have a 50 hp Johnson (1995). Does it make a difference on what type of battery I get? Thanks for any input.
0 mamohr686
A standard group 24 cranking battery will be fine unless you are running other electronics such as your livewell, depthfinders, etc. off of the same battery. In that situation select a cranking with lots of reserve capactity (most are labeled dual purpose) such as the interstate 24MXHD.
0 Wish-I-Were-Fishn
Besides the battery, go to Northern Tool and get yourself a little unit called a VDC Electronics BatteryMINDer Charger. Your battery will always be charged & ready to go, plus it will make it last much longer. I used to ruin a battery about every 3 years or so until I started using this.
