waypoint transfer question

Sorry if this is a repeat. If I want to transfer the waypoints from my handheld gps to my combo unit in the boat, do I simply save it to a SD card on the handheld and put the card into the combo unit and load them up. Sounds to easy. I am sure that I could screw it up. Thanks.
