DrJ
Genofish We've used salted fatheads the last 2 years in Canada and they work great. A bag can sit in the direct sun and they won't get bad. The salt itself doesn't get even warm. Leeches at 40 lb were to much. We get 15 dozen fatheads in salt and small styroform cooler for about $15 at Hwy 65 bait north of Cambridge. At Lake St. Joseph the bite is so good you could use just about anything for bait though. Good Luck DrJ

magnum mike
We have a fly-in camp and have used preserved minnows for years. I have had issues with the salted minnows so we looked for an alternative. We use a small amount of embalming fluid in a pail with minnows and very little water and them freeze them for transport. They last all day on the seat of the boat without refridgeration. Ask your local funeral parlor if you could obtain a few onces of the fluid.
