Grape Vine for smoking

A friend of mine is cutting down a very large grape vine. He has heard that dry grape vine makes excellent wood for use in a smoker. Has anybody used it and if so what ae your thoughts on grape vine?

Heck, I'd give it a shot. Buy yourself a chicken for a couple of bucks and have at it. If it doesn't work, big deal, you're only cost is some charcoal and a couple of bucks for the chicken.

It will have a little bit of a bitter taste, not a bad taste. I prefer apple, pear, cherry, the sweat fruit trees. It will be somewhat like oak. I tried it along time ago, it wasnt bad, just wasnt my favorite.
