What gauge wire?

Question

Looking for some advice....I have a 14ft Lund w/25hp electric start motor hangin of the back. You put the motor, a battery, gas tank and me - @ 6'6" tall and about 280lbs in back and she's a little heavy in the rear end. I'm looking to move as much weight forward as possible and want to move the battery up front under the casting deck. Question for anyone though is what gauge wire will I need to run to give the starter enough juice. Again, 14 ft boat and from where I want to put the battery and then run the wire down the side and then to the motor I figure it's a 10-12ft run.

Thoughts on this? One idea was just to cut the ends off a pair of old jumper cables I have???

Appreciate any input.

The old jumper cables idea would work fine. I would reccomend 8ga. 6 would be better, but were talking a small easy to start outboard and a short distance.

I would also try to get the gass can up front as well.
