Line "Buzz"?

While fishing some areas with fairly strong current (~2-3mph)I sometimes feel a vibrating, or buzzing coming from my line (65lb Sufix braided) is this common? Should lighter line be used to avoid this? Im curious of it may spook the fish, or cost me some runs.....opinions?

Thanks

Dave

In fairly fast currents, I don't notice the difference between fishing taking bait or not. All I know is that there's cross current against the line and that it may bow in the current. That means more line slack although there's good tension from rod tip to sinker. Smaller diameter line helps to eliminate that buzzing feel from the currents.

In my experience, in more slack to no currents the line size makes a bigger difference. I get more strikes on lighter, smaller diameter line size.

Thats what happens with superlines in current. It sounds like the wind howling. I can't say with certainty whether or not it affects the fishing but my opinion is not.

Mono won't howl like that.

Mine line was really singing Saturday night. Heck, I even thought I heard music being played. confused.gif That Mountain dew will make you hear wierd things.

Maybe a bump instead of Dew would make those noises go away. smile.gif
