Catfish Podcast?

Recommended Posts

I would love to hear the likes of Harveylee, DTRO, Hanson and others talk about Cat fishing. The bass boys do it and it sounds cool. I bring a set of head phones to work and listen. When are we going to get a catfish podcast? I realy would like to hear some tips from Dark30. I guess I could just trek on down to Bell Plain cat league metting, but a weekly podcast would be realy cool and save me on gas. Come on DTRO, with your promotion you could make this happen. grin.gif. Just a thought! Anyone else?

Thanks Hanson! I will do that right now.

I did not know about this.

Rushing,

I hear what you mean.

I have been meaning to make it down to BPCL, but between work, home, car shows, fishing and the fact I am almost two hours away have played a factor of not going yet.

I am really putting and effort into going on the 16th, I should be able to make it. I just have to slow down a little on fishing between now and then to up ease my wife. I guess she lived through my weekend rock festival period of my life; she can take a weekend with out me if I am just going fishing. I will just have to take her out to dinner on the 14th. This should work.

So this is why I asked the question. It should be asked early to get into the mix.

To be honest, we'll probably always take a back seat to Walleye, Bass, Panfish, Trout, and Muskie topics. They can't avoid us forever though! I dont know about that! When I came back to Minn.mid 80s I had people saying WOW thats the first catfish I ever saw!You catch em here? Those same people now fish the Kettle,Snake.StLouis, and now its cats their after.when I go up there I'm always asked to go cattin! They seemed to forget eyes&nordens.

Its a bummer when you go to the spot you wish to fish and there are 3 boats there already.

3 Boats!!!! Where on earth are you fishing at?

I've been lucky enough this year to typically have 1 or 2 other trailers at the ramp.

A spot that you have been to Chris I believe. Last time out I checked three spots at 7 and all had 1 or 2 boats already. I cannot say where as there will be more. I need to explore and fish some more remote spots.

This weekend I will target the cats at a spot I hope only 1 other will be there.

I have been down on Pool 2 and MN about 4 or 5 times now this year. I have only seen a hand full of boats. Most time only one cruising by all day or night. I allways hope it one of you guys. I do hear what you are saying Harveylee, and I think the topic on the podcast (if it happens) should be just about tactics and other topics. Not location, but this is up to who ever would design the format.

I work with a guy who has been on the walleye trail for last couple of years. My work had its own professional walleye team and he was the captain. I have been trying to get these guys to take me seriously about cat fishing for some time now. I am looked upon as kind of a bum fisherman since I have solely switch over to cats. I am gaining some ground now because of F.M... They stop by my office now and ask what’s up from the weekend. They still would never go.

Until about 3 years ago, my boat never left Mille Laces. I kept it up their at my fish house at Karpon’s/ Appledorns now. Now I would never dream of storing boat up their, because of my love of city river fishing. I have been shore fishing for cats and bringing the boat down once or twice a year for the last 10 years (up in ER since I was a kid), but never like I do now. My point is I would put cat fishing against any other sport fishing out their. I would love to see the sport grow and more focus be put on it for future fisherman (my children). Now I know this is pretty much a pipe dream (getting cat fishing in front of other sport fishing), but it’s a start.

Foremost, I love to research, watch T.V. shows, read forums and now possibly hear a F.M. podcast about cat fishing. Up until F.M. started podcast, I never even knew what pod cast was. I had an idea, but I thought you had to buy and Ipod to get it. Any computer can get it; it goes threw your media player.

I don’t think for a second MN would be in jeopardy of over crowding and the Mississippi is a huge river. Just another cool thing to indulge myself in a sport I love. Rushing is correct about the gatherings though. This is what separates up cat fisherman from any other sport fish group out their. Well maybe not the rough fish guys. I tell ya, the groups over the years we have had down on shore in Lillydale on pool 2 were rather large and we had great times.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
