I have only ocassionaly fished trout and haven't for quite some time. Going to the Black Hills in July and want to give it a try. Probably going to the Grace Coolidge walk in trout fishing area in Custer State Park. Just wondering what lures would be recommended or live bait. Thanks!

yup, everything rincrat mentioned will catch fish. if you do go with worms or power bait, fish with split shot, and let the bait drift with the current.

the easiest way i have found to get a trout is with a rap. either original or countdown(i like the countdown if you need to throw the tiny ones or a 5 or 7 floating) cast across the current and let the lure come down keeping just enough tention to let the lure work. it is a method that anybody can use, and it will catch fish. with spinners, fishing with the current works better but can cause line twist. my do nothing rapala stlye will work with the spinner, but doesn't seem to be as effective.

good luck, and be sure to post a report cool.gif

oh yea, i have seen a simple maribou jig catch lots of fish too

i typically use flies, but have dabbled with spinners on occasion..... a small snap swivel above the spinner will take care of any line twisting..... quarter your casts upstream as you walk upstream and you'll pull some good ones.....

flies are much more fun though..... grin.gif
