Mounting bow mount trolling motor

IndyEFI500

Question

One of the guys I work with has made me a heck of an offer on a bow mount trolling motor and I can't refuse. Problem is that my boat is an S14 Lund with nothing in the front to mount it to. I plan on building a platform of some sort up there but was wondering if anyone had any tips or cautions in doing so. I figured to just buy some L brackets and bolt them to the side and build up from there. Apperciate any input.

L brackets would work. so would bolting through the gunwale cap. Also you'll need a place to put the socket for the trolling motor. Make a dash under your platform for the socket, it'll also strengthen the platform. Find a place up front for the battery, you won't want it in the back with that boat.
